ORHUN EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Turkic Council, which is developed by the Union of Turkish universities and called as "Orhun process" student-to-faculty exchange program in 6 to 7 April 2017 in the Presidency at the meeting held in Bishkek hosted by Kyrgyzstan-Turkish Manas University, "the Turkic Council Orhun Turkish Union of Universities The implementation phase started with the negotiation and acceptance of the documents regarding the “Exchange Program Regulation”.

The common culture, language and historical unity between the Turkic States constitutes the basis of the cooperation embodied in the Turkic Council. This feature makes the Turkic Council different from other regional cooperation mechanisms. The fact that the Turkic Council Second Summit held in Bishkek in 2012 was dedicated to "Education, Science and Cultural Cooperation" is a concrete indicator of this situation.

Many meetings have been organized within the framework of the Association of Turkish Universities, which was established in order to increase cooperation between member countries and higher education institutions and started its activities since 2013. The directive on the establishment of Higher Education Area and the Association of Turkish universities were accepted. The name of the process that aims to implement exchange programs between students and lecturers has been determined as “Orhun process”.

Ege University has implemented the Orhun Exchange Program pilot implementation primarily for undergraduate students of the Faculty of Tourism and the Faculty of Literature, English Language and Literature Department in the 2019-2020 academic year. Ege University hosted 4 undergraduate students for the first time in 2019-20 spring semester. Orhun Exchange Program has been started in our university as part of student mobility.

Kazakhstan: Ahmet Yesevi International Turkish-Kazakh University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.N. Gumilyev Eurasian National University, Nazarbayev University, Atrau State University;

Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, International University of Kyrgyzstan, Joseph Balasagun the fracture National University, Hussein Karasaev Bishkek Humanities University, Osh University;

Turkey: Ege University, Ataturk University, Istanbul University, Bitlis Eren University, Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Gazi University, Nigde Omar Halisdemir University, University of Cappadocia;

Hungary: Orhun exchange program between Hungary Szeged University will begin. Faculty members and students who wish to participate in the exchange program can apply to the exchange program coordinators of the university to which they are affiliated. Detailed information about the exchange program can be obtained from institution coordinators and at http://turkunib.org/orhun/.

Information for Students Who Want to Benefit from Orhun Exchange Program:

There is no section limitation for applications. After all applications are received, evaluations will be made according to the student admission decisions of the host university of their choice and the results will be announced. The students who will apply should check whether the department / program they are studying at the university they want to apply to is included in the web address of the university they want to apply.

Students may study abroad for a minimum of one, up to a maximum of two semesters. The duration of the semester periods may be different taking into account of differences in the education systems of the countries involved, exchange could be one semester.

Students do not pay any tuition fees to the host institution during the programme, but they continue to pay the obligatory tuition fees to their home institutions. They do not pay any extra fees to the host institution within the scope of the exchange programme. Within the scope of the Orhun Exchange Program which was launched in 2017-2018 academic year;

a)The Home institution shall provide transportation costs of students and teaching staff,

b)The Host University should ensure subsistence and accommodation for the teaching staff and students.

According to the Orhun Exchange Programme, The agreement signed between the student and the higher education institution that carries out the exchange which contains information regarding the exchange period, scholarship amount, information on other payments, responsibilities in the case of student’s default and other similar matters.
