1 - Kumamoto University, Application Information for IJEP General Admission in October 2026
IJEP (International Joint Education Program) – Applications for October 2026 Are Now Open
The IJEP (International Joint Education Program), administered by the Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST) at Kumamoto University in Japan and conducted entirely in English, is designed for international students seeking to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in the fields of Science and Engineering.
The IJEP General Admission application process (for self-funded students) for the October 2026 term has begun.
Application Deadline: May 15, 2026 (Friday)
All required original documents must be received by the relevant office via mail by 5:00 PM (Japan Standard Time) on May 15, 2026.
Applicants must contact an academic advisor (supervisor) at Kumamoto University and obtain their approval prior to submitting the application.

2 - Kumamoto University, Application for Short-Term Exchange Students in the Fall Semester of 2026
Kumamoto University (Japan) – Applications for the Short-Term Exchange Program (Fall 2026) Are Now Open
The Graduate School of Science and Technology (GSST) at Kumamoto University has opened applications for short-term exchange students for the Fall 2026 semester.
Under the Student Exchange Agreement currently in effect between our university and Kumamoto University, master’s and doctoral students may be accepted as exchange students for a maximum period of one year. Under the program, students may attend classes or conduct academic research in laboratories.
Within the quota specified in the agreement, accepted students will be exempt from application, registration, and tuition fees. However, students are responsible for covering their own personal expenses, such as transportation, accommodation, and healthcare costs.

3 - Kumamoto University, Graduate School of Science and Technology
Today we would like to announce the IJEP (International Joint Education Program for Science and Technology) Short-Term Exchange Program with JASSO scholarship starting in Oct 2026 for either 6 months (till March 2027) or 11 months (till August 2027). Now we are recruiting 14 applicants (master and doctoral students), who are from partner universities with a student exchange agreement.
The following conditions apply to the program;
1. Amount of scholarship: 80,000 yen per month
*Participants have to take responsibility for the flight ticket, accommodation, food, health insurance and other living cost, etc.
2. Start of the program: October 1, 2026
3. Duration of the program: Either 6 or 11 months from October 2026
4. Application Deadline: Friday, June 19, 2026, 17:00 (Japan Standard Time)
Application documents in digital form must be submitted by the deadline.

-Lectures
"Current Science and Technology in Japan" in fall semester (2 credits)
At least 3 classes related to topics in environment issues are required.

・ All application documents should be submitted through the international office of the applicant's home university, and applicants should be recommended with the order of priority. For your convenience, please use the attached Excel form.
・ Please note that our selection committee is responsible for screening applicants and the result may be different from the order of priority at your university.
・ Additional costs for the quarantine process associated with traveling to Japan should be borne by the applicant.
4- The University of Porto
The University of Porto would like to invite your students to participate in the Blended Intensive Program “Research Summer School in Microbial Communities: Taste of PhD Experience“, coordinated by our Faculty of Engineering (FEUP).
The course is taught in English in a blended format, with a face-to-face week in July 2026, taking place at FEUP in Porto, Portugal.
